Festive Gift Fair

In days gone by, Christmas preparations, adverts, and shop merchandise etc. didn't happen until after my Birthday. There has been a Christmas creep... the Christmas season seems to have grown in length year after year.

I have this standing joke, where I tell people Christmas doesn't start until after my Birthday. It is quite funny at work when they all get into the spirit far to soon, then I tell them Christmas doesn't start until after my Birthday ;-) It leads to some fun and good natured comments, discussions and reflections :-)

Ooops sorry! It seems the thought of going to the Festive Gift Fair tomorrow has got me all carried away ;-)

Christmas.

My least favorite season of the year...

The consumer glutfest, where kids are encouraged to shout 'gimme, gimme, gimme' any sort of unacceptable behaviour is condonable, and the country sinks into a complacent despond of flatulence and smug 'I'm all right Jack' complacency.

An d very few people even know the poinr of it.

I looked at your link. "Hassle-free shopping"? With the place full of kids and people? They must be joking!!!

The shops here were full of Christmas stuff at the same time as the Halloween stuff - mid-October! They'll be selling it all with the back-to-school stuff soon. In case you have any doubt - I hate all the commercialism!

Glad to say that I've bought all my presents. Now I can avoid major shopping centres like teh plague!

I always love the build up to Christmas, in fact I love all of Christmas and get fed up with miserable people during the festive season. There's always someone worse off.

No one has started Xmas over here! No shops decorated or anything yet. They do it on 8th December. I want that Santa in your photo!

Crushed - I am sure you will enjoy it so much more this year with a new born baby to hand. It is actually New Year that is my least favourite time...

Ginro - You should have said sooner I had a spare ticket... There were some fun toys for boys and some pink fluffy things for girls!

Dragonstar - Usually it a great event to go to, I have been for a number of years (not many kids go). It was always about small independent firms with affordable quality merchandise. Quite different, special and unique gifts. This year however I think the financial crisis has had an effect and all the usual class stuff wasn't there. I hope it doesn't mean those small traders have gone out of business..

Jams - You need to tell me the secret of how you got organised so soon...

Ellee - I actually love it too as long as it doesn't start too soon ;-) The best thing I enjoyed about today was the Christmas Carols. They always have a special meaning for me.

Welshcakes - That timescale reminds me of days gone by. The Santa is rather a cutie isn't he :-)

Christmas starts way too early in this country -- nothing before December 1st I say.

Liz - I do usually too :-)

Rob - I totally agree with, I loses a lot starting so soon!
