The Perils of an English Barbecue

Recently Nunyaa asked all her readers what a Non Aussie Barbecue was like. Well for me an English barbecue means that no matter how sunny and uncloudy it is when you start cooking, it will surely be raining before you have finished. I have searched through my old photographs and found a really good one of a typical barbecue for me! I wonder where the rest of the people have gone? There were quite a few around shortly before I took this picture ;-)

In the following picture there was actually sunshine for a change :-) It shows a typical spread of food. I know it looks a lot but there were around 30 people and it was for a big celebration!

As you can see there were contingency plans in case of rain and we had everything we needed ;-) Being a lover of books I do have quite a few cook books including ones especially for barbecues.

Rain and barbeques - a great British institution!

What a beautifully decorated patio too. I remember having a bbq on the fire escape of my flat in winter months, as long as it didn't rain, I would cook a bbq.

Sally - I hope you have great fun with it. You can do other fun veggie things on there too such as veggie kebabs and stuffed mushrooms.

D - I do have one or two flame shots too ;-)

Jams - I agree :-)

Ellee - Thank You :-) your fire escape bbq sounds like a lot of fun :-)

I just opened a minicity for my friend! I'm going to show her tomorrow. I hope she likes it! Not that has a PC, so it woon't do her much good. Might start some for other people too.

Fabulous, Cherie. Yes indeed. Indoor barbies are best in Britland.

Crushed - I hope your friend likes the minicity. I think they are just a bit of harmless fun :-)

Welshcakes - I am glad it gave you some fond memories xx

James - Thanks, there is nothing quite like a British barbecue is there?

Nunyaa - As you are from the land of the barbecue. If you say it looks good it must be ;-) :-)

You are so much braver than I am! Eating 'al fresco' in our climate is a risky business, an when the weather's fine we get the northern midges!

Well, she's a bit bemused, actually. She wants to know how to get it to grow, as far, there are only two houses. Of course, you could cheer her up by visiting http://dizzybusy.myminicity.com

She's not got anything online, so I think she's quite chuffed with it, believe it or not, I think she thinks it's an unusual present.

Though actually, I'm looking at it now, and she must have ben ringing her friends. I see some agriculture going on...

Dragonstar - I don't like it when the bugs come out either!

Crushed - I have visited, you should take a screen shot for her whilst it is still small :-)

Nunyaa - Thanks Nunyaa, it was tasty :-)
