The Gardens

The Birmingham Botanical gardens are well worth a visit. There are lots of different garden areas and habitats including large climate controlled glasshouses. It is hard to believe you are in the middle of a built up area. Against all odds it didn't rain at all during my visit yesterday.

Here are two views of the cottage garden. The second photograph shows an unusual planter, it is made of iron and its original use was as a horse trough!

I will be showing you more photographs of the garden soon and I will be using some as my entry for ABC Wednesday letter G. I wonder if you can guess how my garden theme entry can turn from Birmingham Botanical Gardens into G for...

What a wonderful cottage. Lucky you missing the rain. But then according to my mother-in-law it never rains in the Midlands. Or only when I'm there!

Geraniums.

Nunyaa - Thank You :-) I thought my G was obvious!

Dragonstar - No the G doesn't stand for gardens ;-)

Aileni - I picked the right place for the weather, it seemed to rain everywhere else! No one lives there it is a museum, but for some reason it was shut!

Liz - I think mother in law is pulling your leg ;-) Good guess but not geraniums!

Several years ago, I arranged a staff "awayday" at the botanical gardens in May - great time for rhododendrons and azalias there - it was only a mile down the road from the office but my HEO's favourite place and he was the first decent boss I'd worked for.

Gallimaufry - Sounds like a fun day out :-) I have had more good bosses than bad ones over the years, but the bad ones really stand out ;-)
