New Years Day

New Years Day

New Years Day has been a lot more hectic than I thought it would be. There was a bit of saga in the night which meant several incoming calls that went on for most of the night. Then there was a phone call this morning saying that there was a problem at my parents house. My parents were out today so I had to go and check it out...

Seems there is a problem with the heating causing an overflow which resulted in the most amazing icicles I have ever seen in RL. I was so flustered making sure that everything was OK I forgot to take a photograph!

The best I managed was this photo of my tree covered in frost when I got back. Did I mention it was way below freezing & trying to snow when I left the house?

After the saga it was time to chill with friends, including American friends who I have missed and not seen for too long a time...

Good food, good wine, good company, good conversation and games - what more could a girl ask for :-)

I hope that you have not set the tone for '09 with an emergency. Though I gather it was more external than in.
I really love your virtual monochrome - plus (?) rooks.

Happy new year - we remarked yesterday on our "constitutional" how midwinter and bleaj everything looks.
Strange given that new years are full of hope and expectation

Aileni - Yes all external problems thankfully :-) The large bird is a pigeon, but I am not sure what the smaller one is. It could be a blackbird or a thrush. I can't even tell when I enlarge the photograph because it is all curled up against the cold.

Jonathan - It is a bit of a contrast isn't it. I always find the frost quite crisp and fresh.

James - I couldn't possibly comment ;-)

Welshcakes - I could have done without it all, but it has all settled down for now. Thank You :-)
