PhotoHunt - Hope

PCS members campaigning and hoping to make a difference to public services. Those of you who have been visiting for a while, will know that in this case we had a success but that related campaigns still continue.
Hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense regardless of how it turns out.

Passive campaigning doesn't seem to get much action, sadly, which leads to more violent protests.
Not that I advocate violence.

Welshcakes - I was struggling with the theme then the idea suddenly came to me!

Jams - I hope we do too!

Pet - Glad you like my blog, of course you can add me to your blogroll :-)

Teena - Glad you like the photo!

Dragonstar - It is a subject close to my heart. I do believe people should have the best services possible available to them.

Biker Betty - Thank You, Happy New Year to you too.

Mrs Mecomber - Thank You, where would we be without hope?

Uber - Our campaigns are not based on passive or aggressive but on getting the message across to the people who can make a difference. Non of my friends/colleagues involved in these campaigns are aggressive.

The whole process takes a lot out of the people involved, because it is hard work. But we have been able to change opinion and make a difference on more than one occasion, without any violent protests.

I think I am going on a bit, sorry... If you want to know more just ask xx

This takes me back to my 18 year involvement with a union. Yes everyone who works in a hospital in BC is in one of the unions, even doctors doing a residency (specialty training).

We too were not always successful and the government was actually punitive and broke the contract by changing the law.

I hope your campaigns are successful Cherie.

What precise changes are you trying to make, Cherie?

I go with that quote on Hope..
then, i see James' question -- made me smile :)

JMB - Thank You I hope the campaigns are successful too. The rules are often changed to suit, that is part of what we campaign against.

James - That is a bit like asking how long is a piece of string. Here are a few things we have tried to change locally:
- jobs, Pay and conditions
- stop collocation of jobs
- to keep the local hospital open
- to keep rural DWP and HMRC offices open
- raising awareness and stop the BNP gaining more seats
- stop the waste of public money in employing private sector consultants
- halt the waste of money in new computer systems that don't work
- stop the erosion of public services with the emphasis on providing better public services
- halt the privatisation of public services (especially Defence)
Changes benefit, the local community, the local economy, the tax payer, the workers themselves and in the case of Defence it helps prevent loss of lives!

Devika - That question made me smile too :-) I was wondering how on earth I could answer that briefly. Several years of campaigning and the benefits in a few words is not easy at all!
