Hodnet Hall Garden is set in a 60 acre woodland. It has many floral collections including Camellias, Azaleas, Rhododendrons and magnolias. In late spring there is an amazing display of bluebells underneath the woodland trees. Close to the house there are formal gardens and the grounds have several ornamental pools.
The hall itself is a red brick mansion which was designed by Anthony Salvin in the 19th century. It is the home of the Heber-Percy family and is not open to the public.
I love the garden so much it is difficult to know which pictures to choose to show you. If you want to see more you could look at the 'Virtual Shropshire' gallery or you could check out my slideshow of the Gardens.
This map gives you an impression of how extensive the gardens are.

Beautiful photos of the gardens.
I especially like the second photo.
So peaceful, I can imagine how it would feel to spend a few hours there daydreaming the day away.
Bear((( )))
Before I went to live in England bluebells under a canopy of trees was what I imagined it looked like. I arrived in the Spring and sure it enough it was one of my first images of the English countryside.
Lovely place Cherie.
What beautiful colors, amazing photos. I really loved them, wish I could visit someday.
Now that we are sliding into winter, those Spring pictures look particularly alluring.
I lived in Devon from age five to fourteen so those bluebells inthe wood... well, it I find it moving.
These are great pics of the garden. Lovely.. Great job. ~Cathy
What a beautiful place! Yes, the bluebells are wonderful - I've only seen them like that once - but the first photo is the one for me. Tranquility, bluebells, and blossom, all in reflection too - perfect!
It really does depend where one is. I could take a foreigner north and show beauty too but I could also show industrialized ugliness. There are such beautiful parts of Britain.
wow those bluebells are magnificent :-)
Oh to be transported there right now. My idea of an English heaven.
Look at those wonderful blueballs, how fabulous. Another gorgeous garden, which reminds me of the weeding I need to do in mine.
Beautiful photos. I love the blue carpet under the trees. It just makes me want to roll in it. I invite you to come visit my post and learn a little history about Coastal BC. -- Margy

H is for horticulturistic.
In case this word did not exist up til now :)
One of my dictionaries offered me 'horticulturist = Gartenkünstler (gardening artist)
It is a lovely word Sean, Thank You :-)
