PhotoHunt - Road

My last weeks PhotoHunt entry was a close up of Dandelion Clocks. For this weeks photograph I have zoomed out and you can see many, many more of them. You can also catch a glimpse of a narrow road and also the edge of a path. I have to admit I think they look great, but I am sure some of you will be thinking weeds again ;-)

Path to the end of time...

The Dandelions

Upon a showery night and still,
Without a sound of warning,
A trooper band surprised the hill,
And held it in the morning.

We were not waked by bugle-notes,
No cheer our dreams invaded,
And yet, at dawn, their yellow coats
On the green slopes paraded.

We careless folk the deed forgot;
Till one day, idly walking,
We marked upon the self-same spot
A crowd of veterans talking.

They shook their trembling heads and gray
With pride and noiseless laughter;
When, well-a-day! they blew away,
And ne'er were heard of after!

It is a lot easier to accept them - better than ragwort.

I love dandelions. They are so bright when in flower, and the seed-heads are beautiful. I just don't like them in the flower-beds!

Your photo is great.

There is something a little etheral and other worldly about your verse...

Hi Cherie, I love this photo! It's amazing how pretty they can look when we know what a nuisance they can be. Looking forward to your monochrome monday tomorrow! :D

lovely pic and lovely poem...
... just a bummer that we are approaching autumn instead of spring.

I like dandelions expecially when they turn into 'clocks'. I used to grow a patch for my rabbits.

Yes they may look weed like to some but they still look pretty :)

My wife loves the word Dandelions (she's Spanish) and finds it exotic and strange. When we go walking in the country she gets great mirth by getting me to say it over and over again.

Beautiful and very useful ... our neighbour makes dandelion wine; horses, rabbits and chicken love the iron rich leaves. As children, we loved the clocks.

Anonymous - Sounds very useful! My Dad used to make Gorse wine, which was quite fiddly to pick without pain!
