K is for Kingston Lacy

Just for once I am going to be early with my ABC posting ;-)

Kingston Lacy is a country mansion owned by the National Trust and is set in attractive formal gardens and parkland.

The house is in Dorset and from the 17th to late 20th century it was home to the Bankes family who had previously lived in the nearby Corfe Castle until it's destruction in the English Civil War.

For more detailed information you can check out the Wiki entry.

For more ABC pictures check out Mr Linky.

A quick update for those of you who are following my computer problems. I managed to figure out how to get into the front of my PC today. I have to admit it was really easy and I feel a bit dumb for not remembering...

Everything looks fine and the fan is not clogged up. After consultation the verdict is the PSU may have packed up. So I need to test that, if that is not the problem it will have to be taken to a local PC Doctor :-/

Corfe Castle is a lovely place.

Site of Britains smallest town hall, a royal murder and a fascinating castle.

Not been for ages, but I must do next time I'm down that way.

How beautiful!I can;t imagine living in a place like that.Do you call that a "house"?

That's a beautiful house! It's a bit like Burghley House, which is quite near to me.

Tell me ... Kingston Lacy ... was that featured in the book 'Masquerade' as part of the puzzle? It looks rather familiar!

Not been here but I'm starting to think there is a bit of sameness to the various NT gardens - almost a kind of "branding".

I scrolled down and read about the puter probs - hope you get them sorted.

Oh, those formal gardens! For a symmetry lover like me, they are delightful.

The mansion is gorgeous, too.

My computer is acting fritzy, too, so I'm crossing my fingers that it will hang tight until I can get a new one and get all my stuff moved over. Hope yours will be resolved soon!

Crushed - I have never been to Corfe Castle. It sounds like it might be worthwhile.

ChrisC and JonJ - It is called a mansion.

Jay - I am not sure. I do have the book, I will have to check it out later.

Photowannabe, Babooshka, Richies, lv2scpbk - Thank You

Aileni - I am sure they won't mind ;-)

Cathy - Thank You

JMB - It is nice that our country is small enough to get around and thanks for your thoughts on my computer problems.

Jen & Dragonstar - Thank You

Ackworth - The ones with the stately homes are quite similar, but some of their other properties have quite different gardens. Thanks for you thoughts on my PC.

James - I am fairly sure that neither of us would like to pay the running costs if we lived there!!!

D - Thank you :)

Kim - There seems to be a lot of computer problems around at the moment. I hope yours hangs on for you.

Devika - Thank you :-)

Bear - Thanks for you kind thoughts.

Mutley - You must take a picture for me sometime.

Nonizamboni - I am sure you would love it if you did :-)

My guess though is that the PC problems are from one of the fans. They're the only moving parts in a PC and if it's making strange noises I would suspect it's them. Perhaps the bearings are loose or something?

CherryPie said...

Ginro - My first thought is that it was the front on. But after looking at it (when I eventually remembered how to get into the front) it seems OK. Later I will be checking the PSU and the front switch...
