You may remember a little while back that I posted about the staff cuts as we move into our new organisation. Today the letters were issued to staff who had requested early release...
When we had our reprieve announcement, we were told that those who wanted to go had the chance to go and those that wanted to would have the chance to stay.
Today there were a lot of disappointed people, their request for early release had been denied or they were put on the reserve list to see what happens after all the recruitment for the higher grades has taken place!!!
On top of that I found out that there is a possibility that we might be issued with special corporate shirts to wear. I saw the ladies version today, it is awful!!! I would feel really frumpy and uncomfortable if I have to wear the proposed shirt. It is a mans shirt and it won't go with any of the skirts I have! I don't mind if I have to wear a badge or a particular colour shirt, but at least make it feminine or give me a choice of styles!!!
I think I need to get onto sorting this in advance don't I? ;-)

Yes well I'm sure you are not surprised. Probably far more wanted to leave than they planned on so they could not have that.
Ugly shirts. Certainly get on to that and nip it in the bud. That said I wore a white lab coat for more than forty years. The worst of both worlds, ugly in itself but you still had to provide clothes underneath which were no longer good looking when partially covered by a lab coat.
Out with men style shirts, yes seek to have them changed to suit the females, at least as you say, give a few choices instead of just one unisex shirt.
I just left a job with a corporate uniform....I'll never go back!
I like the freedom you have in wearing your own clothes.
I've no objection to a corporate uniform - I was a nurse for years! - but surely women should look like women. The shirt sounds ugly. Next they'll want an ugly skirt to go with it, or even baggy slacks.
You definitely need to get onto this early, Cherrypie! I'd hate to have to wear a corporate anything.
I'm glad I don't have to wear a corporate uniform. My former colleagues in th Immigration Service have to wear one now. It makes them look like security guards. I would shudder to think what a corporate shirt for my Department would look like. I daresay none of my ties would match!
jmb - I think about the right amount wanted to leave, but from the wrong places... These shirts look rather like a nurses uniform without all the appropriate bits to go with it!
Nunyaa - I will be onto it! I will get my TU colleagues who are part of the negotiations to be aware of it.
Dragonstar - I agree I don't mind a corporate identity, but everyone needs to look smart and be comfortable.
Welshcakes - I think the best way would just be to say wear a white top and provide us with a badge to wear!
That is if they can't just forget the idea all together!
Jams - I am wondering how they passed it through if it was not part of their terms and conditions...
Funny you should mention the tie, our male visitor yesterday said he had a terrible job getting one to match the logo!
Fight the corporate uniform!
Seriously!
I refuse to wear a tie, unless I'm actually seeing clients or customers.
My exes all stole my shirts so there is nothing shaming in this, Cherie. In fact it's rather sexy. :)
James - You know I am going to try to fight this ;-) but trust me that shirt is not sexy!!!
Crushed - That's the thing most of us don't meet the outside world and when we do we dress appropriately (well most of us ;-) )
I thought I had already replied to your comment. Either I am losing it or blogger is up to it's tricks again...
